Choosing well

The four things to check

01

Convex profile

The crest catches light, the joint loses it: a crisp contrast that photographs very well.

02

15 mm

A clear relief without encroaching excessively on the room.

03

Anthracite

Deep grey in convex relief gives a velvety result that is hard to obtain otherwise.

04

Plumb

The convex shape reveals the slightest error: check with a laser every three panels.

Round Board is the exact inverse of Concave: where one hollows out, the other bulges. Each board presents a run of 150 mm half-cylinders that catch light on the crest and lose it in the joint. That is the fluted effect — the one of antique columns, Art Deco bars and, for some years now, designer furniture.

Five finishes

KC-6 anthracite is our best-seller in the series: a deep grey that, in convex relief, reads almost velvety. KX-8 and KX-10 offer rounded profiles in light shades. KX-32 completes the series in textured neutral, and KX-20 mint green brings the colour note.

Where fluting works

As counter and bar-front dressing: its original use and where it is most striking. As a dado, over the first metre of a corridor wall, it protects against knocks while drawing an elegant low line. As a furniture front on bespoke pieces — dressing room, island, TV unit — cut down and bonded onto board. And as a reception wall, full height, in anthracite with grazing light from above.

One installation detail

The convex profile forgives plumb errors less readily than a flat slat: a slightly twisted board shows up immediately along the crest line. Check plumb every three panels with a plumb line or a laser, rather than with a spirit level resting on the relief.

Frequently asked questions

What we get asked most often

Round Board or Concave Board?
Round is convex, more contrasted, more assertive: it draws the eye and suits counters and reception walls. Concave is hollow, softer, more discreet: it suits living spaces and rooms where people spend time.
Can it be used as a furniture front?
Yes, it is a frequent and very successful use. Boards are cut to the height of the front and bonded onto a backing panel. Plan for the flutes to run continuously from one door to the next when the unit is closed.
Does the relief hold dust?
Less than a grooved profile: on a convex shape, dust finds no deep channel to settle in. A vacuum with a soft brush along the flutes, once a month, is more than enough.
