The four things to check

01

Section

60 × 42 mm for a light screen, 100 × 50 mm for a fence that owns its presence.

02

Spacing

Under 30 mm to screen, 60 to 80 mm to filter daylight without closing off.

03

Height

Above 1.80 m, add an intermediate stiffener against wind loading.

04

Hollow

The hollow section lightens the supporting structure and makes handling on site easier.

The composite tube is a rigid hollow section, fitted vertically or horizontally between two retaining profiles. It is the product behind privacy screens, terrace dividers and solid balustrades — and one of our most requested on villa and rooftop projects in Casablanca.

Two sections, two effects

60 × 42 mm is the slim section: spaced 40 to 60 mm apart, it produces a light screen that lets air and daylight through while blocking the head-on view. It is the right choice for a terrace divider or a balustrade infill.

100 × 50 mm is the heavy section. More imposing, it takes on a visually structural role: brise-soleil, boundary fence, pergola frame. At close spacing it closes the view almost completely.

Working out the screening

How much it screens depends on the ratio between tube width and spacing. A 60 mm tube spaced at 40 mm screens about 60 % head-on — and far more at an angle, which is the real angle a neighbour looks from. For close overlooking, tighten to 20–30 mm. For a simple sun filter, open up to 80 mm.

Installation

Tubes slide into U-profiles fixed top and bottom, or are screwed laterally onto a frame. Above 1.80 m in height, add an intermediate stiffener: a 3 m hollow tube unsupported at mid-height can take a slight deflection under wind and heat.

Frequently asked questions

What we get asked most often

What spacing gives effective privacy?
To block a direct overlooking view, space 20 to 30 mm apart with 60 mm tubes. Seen at an angle — the angle you are actually observed from — screening then becomes near total, while air still moves through.
Do composite tubes stand up to wind?
Yes, provided they are properly restrained. On an exposed terrace or a rooftop, fix top and bottom and add an intermediate point above 1.80 m. It is the restraint, not the material, that is the limiting factor.
Can you build a balustrade from composite tubes?
As decorative infill, yes. The loadbearing structure — posts and handrail — must stay metal and be sized to the applicable safety rules. The composite tube dresses; it does not carry the regulatory loads.
Are the tubes capped at the ends?
They are supplied cut square. For a clean finish, and to stop insects or water getting in, we recommend end caps or a U-profile cover top and bottom.
