A contemporary interior dressed in DECNO wall panels

Inspiration

Five spaces, five ways to do it.

Not a catalogue of pretty pictures, but the principles that make a covering work in a given space — and the products that go with them.

Terrace & poolside

The floor that takes full sun all day and wet feet all summer. Pale shades for barefoot comfort, the grooved face for grip.

  • Run the grooves across the direction of traffic to get the most grip.
  • Teak or Walnut shades: they heat up less than the anthracite greys.
  • A corner trim at the edge: that is what gives the solid-slab look.

Façade & boundary wall

A ventilated outer skin that changes how a building reads and protects the substrate behind it. On a villa, cladding part of the elevation is often enough to transform the whole.

  • A 20 to 30 mm air gap between the wall and the cladding, without exception.
  • Run it vertically to make a volume taller, horizontally to make it longer.
  • Alternate wide boards and 71 mm flat boards to break up the regularity.

Screens & privacy walls

Filtering a neighbour’s view without closing off, framing a view, dividing a terrace in two: composite tube does the work of a timber screen, without the upkeep.

  • A 20 to 30 mm gap to block the view, 60 to 80 mm simply to filter it.
  • Above 1.80 m in height, add an intermediate stiffener.
  • End caps or a U-profile: the detail that makes the difference.

Living room

One wall that gives the room structure without furnishing it. Slats behind the sofa, SPC marble behind the television, or the two in conversation.

  • One accent wall only: across four walls, the relief becomes overwhelming.
  • A grazing LED strip at the top of the wall — without raking light, there is no relief.
  • Pair a textured wall with a plain one from the same colour family.

Reception & commercial space

Hotel, clinic, agency, shop: an SPC marble backdrop behind the counter and a fluted side panel are enough to establish a brand.

  • SPC marble behind the counter, fluted Round Board down the sides.
  • Plan the cable runs and the logo backlighting before anything is fixed.
  • Anthracite in a rounded relief: the velvety result that photographs best.
